As a volunteer,
Katheryn serves the Community Weekday School
(a small preschool for at-risk students)
as a board member. In that
capacity, Katheryn has been integrally involved in
the merger of the Community Weekday School and
the Seigle Avenue Preschool Cooperative.
Katheryn comes to the development
field after serving as Chief Financial
Officer of the Junior League of Charlotte.
As a member of the JLC Finance
Committee for five years, Katheryn’s efforts included streamlining
the $1 million budget process, educating
decision makers on appropriate financial topics,
improving risk management practices, initiating a
comprehensive development assessment and launching the JLC
Legacy Foundation. Katheryn currently serves the JLC as
President of the Legacy Foundation.
A former high school math teacher, Katheryn’s
professional experience lies primarily in financial services.
While earning her MBA in Finance from UNC
Charlotte, she worked for James M.
Myers & Co., a local investment
management firm, as a Registered Assistant
and then Portfolio Manager. Katheryn routinely managed
equity transactions valued between $5 million and $15
million, maintaining over 180 portfolios.
As an MBA
student, Katheryn served on the Student Managed
Investment Fund, a student-managed account
allocated from the university’s endowment and
designed to give students real-world investment
experience. She also co-authored “The Root
of Reported Betas,” published in the Fall 2001
issue of The
Journal of Investing
.
Katheryn
continues to serve the Charlotte community through
the Junior League of Charlotte and as a board
member of Community Weekday School. At
Christ Church, she is a member of the Children and
Family Ministries Commission. Former
volunteer service includes the National Investment
Committee of Sigma Kappa Sorority.
