Capital Campaign Advisory Services

Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region has launched a $10 million capital campaign to build the Levine & Dickson Hospice House. The facility will offer end-of-life care in a peaceful, home-like atmosphere with the highest level of pain and symptom management delivered by compassionate staff. For family and friends, it will be a haven where their loved ones receive the best care possible. Stephen Cummings, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate & Investment Banking at Wachovia, is leading this important effort.

VB is privileged to have provided campaign management services for the planning, private and public phases of the campaign.

The Mint Museums are working to strengthen the core development program after completing a successful Ford Foundation challenge campaign and before becoming involved in the Arts & Science Council-led Cultural Facilities Campaign. Through the endowment campaign initiated by a grant given by the Ford Foundation, the Mint was able to raise over $4 million to fund exhibitions. The Mint’s move downtown creates a dramatic opportunity for the organization to raise significant funds to fully support its new program and facility. The Mint hired Vandever Batten to craft a strategic development plan in anticipation of this growth opportunity so that its goals are clear and its strategy sound.

Working on retainer, Vandever Batten offered general advisory services on strategy, planning and implementation after authoring the Mint’s strategic development plan.

The Catawba Lands Conservancy and the Trust for Public Land have joined together to develop the region’s first 14-county regional trail system. With additional support from the Foundation for the Carolinas and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, this plan will eventually create 500 miles of greenway space that links communities, cultural sites, recreational venues and natural areas.

Vandever Batten has been engaged to craft an overarching capital strategy and conduct a feasibility study for this private fundraising effort, with general advisory support given to the planning process. In addition to these long range campaign services, we are also providing the Catawba Lands Conservancy with mentoring services during a period of staff transition and strategic counsel for its annual development program.
